Change? Not bloody likely.
So, it appears the result of the recycled water referendum in Toowoomba is a resounding 'no'. In hindsight, I guess I shouldn't be suprised, but it still saddens me. It also leads to the inevitable question; why make voting compulsory? I know it's hip to hate Americans, and it's not like their system of government is flawless by any means, but seriously, perhaps we should make voting voluntary and take some positive steps to keep morons out of the polling booth?

Well, I must say if I was still resident of the great town of Toowoomba, I would be reticent myself about drinking water that at one time contained turds . However, long term it is something that definitely needs to be implemented, or at least considered along with any other ways of maximising the use of natural resources on the planet.
Ultimately, water can be purified easily enough, regardless of how much waste has gone through it.
We probably do need to start looking ahead instead of being so caught up in our own time
I voted no. Wantd the two pipe system, even if it was much more expensive.
I personally wouldn't care either way, but think there would be damage to local tourism and agriculture - Toowoomba don't do much else unless you tack on the boarding schools.
(Sorry if this posts twice)
There has been a drought in T'ba for HALF MY LIFE, and I seem to be getting pretty old in the tooth, The results didn't surprise me at all, but I did harbour a little thought they may do something groundbreaking.
